Hyundai and IIT Madras Launch Initiative for Children's Cancer Care
The Hyundai Motor India Foundation, which serves as the corporate social responsibility division of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to introduce the 'Hyundai Hope for Cancer' initiative. The project has allocated Rs 56 crore towards improving paediatric cancer care in India.
Over the next four years, the initiative plans to organise more than 225 cancer awareness and screening camps across the states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Haryana. A press release issued on Sunday highlighted the partnership's goal to enhance early detection and treatment of paediatric cancer.
Puneet Anand, Associate Vice-President and Head of Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility at Hyundai Motor India Ltd, stated, "Hyundai Hope for Cancer reflects our firm belief that technology, compassion, and collaboration can drive transformative change in cancer care." Anand further emphasised the initiative's commitment, which includes a dedicated cancer care fund of Rs 3 crore.
The foundation aims to create equitable access to resources such as early detection and research, alongside community outreach efforts that have already impacted over 11,000 individuals. This initiative marks a significant step in addressing the challenges of paediatric cancer in the country, which has seen increasing awareness in recent years.
Hyundai Motor India Foundation has previously engaged in various social initiatives, focusing on health and education. The collaboration with IIT Madras is expected to leverage advanced research and technology to improve cancer care standards.
The initiative not only seeks to address immediate healthcare needs but also aims to foster long-term improvements in cancer treatment and awareness in India’s diverse communities. As such, it represents a comprehensive approach to combating one of the most pressing health issues facing children today.
