Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei reportedly faces critical health issues, with officials acknowledging difficulties in direct communication.

Speculation about the health of Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, has intensified following reports that he is in critical condition and has been hospitalised. President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed in a recent state television interview that direct interaction with Khamenei is currently very challenging.

Reports from Israeli media outlets, including Channel 14 and the Jerusalem Post, have cited sources close to the leadership claiming that Khamenei's condition is extremely dire. One source from the Jerusalem Post expressed, "We would not be surprised if we heard news of his martyrdom soon," highlighting the growing concern among officials regarding his health.

Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father as Supreme Leader, has not been seen in public since a series of military strikes led to his father's death on February 28, 2026. He has communicated solely through written statements since the incident and has largely avoided public appearances.

Speculation regarding his whereabouts has become more pronounced, with suggestions that he might not even be in Iran. International reporting has repeatedly challenged the official narrative of his condition, with several intelligence sources indicating that Khamenei is incapacitated due to severe injuries sustained during the military campaigns targeting his father's estate.

The Iranian leadership has attempted to downplay these reports, with officials from the Health Ministry previously describing Khamenei's initial injuries as superficial. Nevertheless, the continued absence of live public appearances and interactions has led to intense speculation both regionally and internationally about his health and the stability of his leadership.

With reports suggesting profound implications for Iran's political situation, officials within the government are under pressure to clarify Khamenei's condition. The uncertainty surrounding his health raises questions about the future direction of Iran's leadership and its impact on regional dynamics.
