Harley-Davidson Launches Sprint 440 Cruiser with 440cc Engine
Harley-Davidson has officially unveiled its latest model, the Sprint 440, a lightweight mid-size cruiser. Developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, this motorcycle aims to broaden accessibility to the Harley-Davidson experience.
Public Debut at EICMA The Sprint 440 is scheduled for its public debut at the EICMA 2026 exhibition in Milan, Italy, which runs from November 5 to 8. The model is designed with a low seat height and compact dimensions, making it user-friendly for a variety of riders.
Design and Specifications The design of the Sprint 440 draws from Harley-Davidson's classic cruiser aesthetic. It features a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, round headlamp, bobbed rear fender, and a stepped seat, complemented by a single-sided exhaust. Additional design highlights include machined accents on the alloy wheels and engine, alongside an orange graphic on the fuel tank.
Three colour choices will be available: Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black, and Teal Thunder.
Performance Attributes Powering the Sprint 440 is a 440cc single-cylinder, air-and-oil-cooled engine that generates 27 brake horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute and 38 Newton-metres of peak torque at 4,000 revolutions per minute. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist-and-slipper clutch, promising a fuel efficiency of up to 34 km per litre under combined riding conditions.
The motorcycle is equipped with a gear-driven counter-balancer, aimed at reducing vibrations during rides.
For handling and comfort, the Sprint 440 features a 43mm inverted front fork offering 130mm of travel and twin rear shocks with a seven-step preload adjustment. The braking system comprises a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, both equipped with standard dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS).
Ergonomics and Features With regards to ergonomics, the Sprint 440 boasts a laden seat height of 671mm and a ready-to-ride weight of 187kg. Its narrow profile and tapered seat facilitate easier ground contact for riders, enhancing comfort and control. Additionally, the motorcycle comes with a nine-litre fuel tank.
Prominent features include a circular 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument display, full-LED lighting, and a USB-C charging port located above the headlamp.
Accessories and Availability Harley-Davidson plans to offer a range of accessories for the Sprint 440, such as saddlebags, a detachable windscreen, a passenger backrest, an engine guard, and alternative seating options.
While the Sprint 440 will be launched in various global markets, the specific launch schedules will differ by region. It is expected to hit the US market in spring 2027, with final assembly occurring at Harley-Davidson’s facility in York, Pennsylvania.
Presently, there is no confirmation regarding an Indian launch or local pricing. However, the Sprint 440 presents a potential alternative to the existing X440, particularly with its traditional cruiser dimensions and lower seat height.
