Gurugram Hit-and-Run: Lawyer Accuses Biker of Seeking Publicity
In Gurugram, a hit-and-run case sees the accused's lawyer blaming the woman biker for seeking followers on social media. Conflicting accounts emerge.

The investigation into a recent collision between a car and a motorcycle in Gurugram is attracting media attention, particularly due to the statements made by the lawyer of the accused driver, Kalyan Bainsla. The incident occurred on Sunday morning on Golf Course Road and has raised significant questions regarding accountability and road safety.

According to Sia, a rider from the group known as "Rebel Wheels Sia," the car had been intentionally following her and her biking group moments before the crash. In a video shared on Instagram, Sia describes her experience, asserting that she urged the driver to maintain a safe distance. She alleged that the driver and passengers appeared intoxicated and displayed aggressive behaviour.

The footage has since gone viral, prompting discussions about the nature of road safety in the area. Sia stated that despite her efforts to create distance between her motorcycle and the car, the vehicle continued to approach, ultimately leading to the collision that left her shaken.

However, Kalyan Bainsla’s lawyer has contested Sia's claims. He referred to the video as a publicity stunt, suggesting that Sia was more interested in gaining social media followers than reporting the incident truthfully. "The video shows her speeding at 140-170 km/h on a road unsuitable for such recklessness,” the lawyer remarked. “It is clear that this is an attempt to stir controversy and gain attention. The woman wants followers and views."

The lawyer maintained that his client swerved to avoid hitting a footpath when the collision occurred and insisted that the occupants of the car fled the scene not out of guilt but due to fears of violence. He clarified, "The mistake was not on our part. We saved the footpath, the girl came right, we went a little left, and that is how the crash happened."

In contrast to this narrative, Sia’s father has expressed concerns over his daughter’s safety, stating that a report will be lodged with the authorities. He claimed that the collision was intentional and is indicative of broader safety concerns for women on the roads. "This is also a matter of women's safety. We will soon lodge a complaint with the police, and strict action must be taken against such individuals," he affirmed during an interview.

As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen how the authorities will navigate the conflicting accounts of the incident. Both sides of the story reflect larger issues of road safety and public responsibility, especially in urban settings where aggressive driving behaviour can have serious consequences.
