Four Arrested in ₹590 Crore Fraud Case Involving IDFC First Bank
Authorities in Haryana have taken four individuals into custody in connection with a significant fraud case involving IDFC First Bank, valued at ₹590 crore. The arrests occurred on the evening of 24 February 2026 as part of an ongoing investigation by the Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Among those arrested are two individuals previously employed by IDFC First Bank and two private citizens who are partners in a business firm.
This case came to light when IDFC First Bank reported the fraudulent activities, which primarily involved accounts associated with the Haryana government. Following this revelation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a First Information Report (FIR) and the state government established a committee to further investigate the matter.
On 24 February 2026, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed the government's commitment to addressing the situation, stating in the Assembly that no individuals involved in the fraud would be exempt from accountability.
In response to the unfolding situation, prominent political figures including the Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, along with Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh, have called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident to ensure thorough examination and accountability regarding the alleged fraud at the bank.
