Drew McIntyre responds to recent criticism from CM Punk and Roman Reigns during WWE events ahead of WrestleMania 42.

Drew McIntyre has publicly addressed the recent criticism he faced from World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and Roman Reigns during an episode of WWE's Raw. The two stars aimed remarks at McIntyre while promoting their upcoming match for WrestleMania 42, implying that he was a lesser star associated with a less prestigious show.

In a segment on the following episode of SmackDown, McIntyre expressed his disappointment in both Punk and Reigns. He noted that he anticipated a higher standard of professionalism from them. McIntyre stated that his primary frustration stemmed from their attempts to undermine the significance of both his championship and the SmackDown brand itself. "This should be taken as a declaration of war by everyone in the back," McIntyre remarked, signalling his determination to defend his standing within WWE.

McIntyre highlighted his commitment to the company, pointing out that he took no breaks and played a crucial role in maintaining WWE's success during the pandemic. He invoked the legacies of former champions such as Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and The Rock, asserting that their contributions set a standard he continues to uphold.

In his defence, McIntyre labelled Punk and Reigns as "liars" for claiming that he is not the number one champion in the company. He further critiqued Reigns for relying on his family's support to achieve his status, while also taking aim at Punk, whom he described as "Fragile Phil," suggesting that he is just one injury away from being sidelined.

McIntyre's comments come in the wake of multiple confrontations on SmackDown, including altercations with Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu, indicating that tensions are running high leading into WrestleMania 42. As the event approaches, the rivalry between these prominent WWE figures continues to intensify, with fans eager to see how the drama unfolds in the ring. The ongoing narrative between McIntyre, Punk, and Reigns is shaping up to be one of the key storylines as the wrestling community anticipates the annual wrestling spectacle.
