The Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir has announced the start of Dhul Hijjah, with Eid-ul-Adha set for May 27, 2026.

The crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah has been sighted in Jammu and Kashmir. This announcement was made by Grand Mufti Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooq. Reports of the moon's sighting came from Kargil and other areas within Jammu and Kashmir. As a result, the holy month of Dhul Hijjah will commence on Monday, May 18, 2026, according to the Grand Mufti. Consequently, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. In his statement, the Grand Mufti extended his greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, expressing the hope that this occasion brings peace, prosperity, and happiness to the region.
