Delhi Student Shreyas Mishra Achieves Perfect Score in JEE Main 2026
Shreyas Mishra from Delhi secures top position in JEE Main 2026 Session 1 with a perfect score, showcasing dedication and effective preparation.

Shreyas Mishra, a 17-year-old student residing in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi, has emerged as the top scorer in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 1, receiving an exceptional perfect score. The results, which became public on Monday evening, reflect the hard work and determination of Mishra, who completed the exam on his initial attempt.

Mishra described his achievement as 'completely unexpected,' despite his early preparations. Two years ago, he made the decision to move to a paying guest facility in Punjabi Bagh to focus intensively on his ambitions, as his parents live in Greater Noida. His interest in mathematics was a significant factor in his choice to pursue the JEE, a gateway to some of India’s leading educational institutions.

Currently a student at the Kulachi Hansraj Model School (Senior Wing) in Ashok Vihar, Mishra is preparing for his board examinations, which are set to take place shortly. He is among 12 students nationwide who attained a flawless score of 100 in the examination. Notably, he is the only finalist from Delhi, with the other perfect scorers hailing from states such as Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha, and Haryana.

Reflecting on his preparation strategy, Mishra emphasised that his approach was less about the number of hours spent studying and more about comprehensively covering essential topics. 'My schedule wasn't fixed in terms of hours. Some days, it stretched to 10 or 11 hours,' he remarked, indicating that there were also days when he studied for five to six hours. He recognised the importance of maximizing available time while studying, though he admitted to feelings of time mismanagement at times.

In the weeks leading up to the JEE, Mishra engaged extensively in mock examinations and detailed analyses to solidify his understanding and clarify doubts. 'The last one-and-a-half months were spent giving numerous mocks, doing in-depth analysis, and getting doubts cleared in classes and discussions among peers,' he stated.

Despite the rigorous demands of his study regimen, Mishra maintained a balanced lifestyle. He made it a priority to take breaks to avoid burnout, regularly listening to classical music, engaging in cricket, and socialising with friends. 'From the start, I used to take time out to avoid burnout,' he noted, underlining the importance of maintaining personal connections.

The support system provided by his family played a pivotal role in his successful journey. Sumant Mishra, his father and a cybersecurity consultant, shared insights into how the family's involvement helped in alleviating stress throughout the preparation process. He affirmed that their approach involved maintaining regular communication with Shreyas, ensuring that he did not feel disassociated from familial connections.

'When it comes to competitive exams, it’s not just the aspirant who prepares; the entire family is involved,' he explained. Alongside his wife, who is a computer science professor at Amity University Noida, they facilitated meaningful conversations daily, fostering an environment significantly conducive to Shreyas’ success.

With his tremendous achievement, Shreyas Mishra has not only secured his place among India’s brightest students but has also inspired many through his dedication and effective preparation strategies.
