Delhi Police Officer Faces Probe After Slapping Incident Caught on Film
A Delhi Police officer is suspended following a viral video showing him slapping a woman during a hotel intervention amid a dispute.

A video has surfaced online allegedly showing a sub-inspector of the Delhi Police slapping a woman during a police operation at a hotel in the Adarsh Nagar area. The incident occurred after authorities were summoned to the establishment due to what was reported as a late-night dispute. In response to the uproar generated by the footage, departmental action has been initiated, and the officer has been transferred to the District Lines.

According to information from the Delhi Police, the initial call to the emergency helpline claimed that several armed women were threatening a resident. However, upon investigation, officers discovered that the situation stemmed from a financial disagreement rather than any armed threat.

During the questioning process, the officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Himanshu, reportedly became agitated and slapped one of the women involved. This action prompted a backlash, with social media users expressing outrage at the incident. A statement from the Delhi Police confirmed that a departmental inquiry had been ordered and that further investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Adding to the scrutiny on the Delhi Police, this is not an isolated event. Recently, a constable was suspended after allegations surfaced regarding the assault of a salesman in Chandni Chowk. The salesman claimed that following accusations of theft made by two women, he was taken to a police booth where he was beaten. The official response to those claims also involved the initiation of a departmental inquiry.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North District, Raja Banthia, affirmed the actions taken against the officers involved, stating that a thorough review would be conducted to determine the specifics of each incident and any necessary consequences for inappropriate conduct.

“In both instances, we are committed to upholding accountability within our ranks,” Banthia noted. “All officers are expected to maintain professionalism while performing their duties.”

As investigations proceed, police have urged all individuals who were present during the incidents to participate in the inquiry process. The injured woman from the hotel dispute has undergone medical examination to address her reported injuries.

This series of events has reignited discussions surrounding police conduct and accountability in the capital, as citizens call for better oversight and adherence to professional standards by law enforcement officials. As the situation develops, the Delhi Police continue to communicate updates to the public regarding the ongoing inquiries and measures in place to prevent future occurrences.

The public awaits further developments as the department seeks to address these serious allegations of misconduct among its ranks.
