Deendayal Upadhyaya's Vision Inspires Modern India, Says Chief Minister

In a recent address at a programme commemorating the 110th birthday of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh asserted that Upadhyaya's philosophy remains a guiding light for the nation. Speaking at Dhankya, near Jaipur, he emphasised that the teachings of Upadhyaya are not only significant for India but also hold value for humanity at large.

Upadhyaya, an influential figure, is best known for his philosophy of Integral Humanism, which seeks to balance individual rights with societal needs. Dattatreya Hosabale, General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), highlighted that this philosophy draws on India's rich cultural heritage and has been adapted to present-day realities. He pointed out the need for India to pursue its own development path, rather than imitating Western models of growth.

"Deendayal Upadhyaya provided a vision for creating a true India, offering a framework not just for the nation but as a guiding model for the entire world," Hosabale stated. He argued against viewing the global landscape through the narrow lenses of capitalism and communism and advocated for a more nuanced understanding of social organisation that acknowledges the ties between individuals, society, nature, and the divine.

The Chief Minister's remarks coincided with discussions on rural development and the need to enhance local economies. According to Hosabale, improvement in education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities in rural areas could reduce urban migration. He called for greater emphasis on agriculture, cottage industries, and local employment, while stressing that government initiatives must be complemented by community participation.

Addressing the impact of technology, Hosabale reiterated that while advancements are important, they must serve humanity without harming the environment or social values. He stated, "Technology should not enslave humans; it must work toward enhancing human welfare and dignity."

The programme also served to honour researchers and scholars engaged in studying Upadhyaya's contributions. Organised by the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Smriti Samaroh Samiti, the event aimed to encourage the application of Upadhyaya's ideas in everyday life.
