Chandigarh Court Summons Salman Khan and Sister in Fraud Case
A district court in Chandigarh has summoned actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd over allegations of cheating associated with a Being Human jewellery store in Manimajra. They are required to appear in court on 5 October to respond to the accusations. The complaint was lodged by Chandigarh businessman Arun Gupta, who claimed he was misled into investing approximately ₹3 crore in the showroom based on false promises of profitable business prospects. Gupta's complaint outlines that he entered into an agreement with Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd, which was granted the licence to market Being Human jewellery. He alleged that he spent nearly ₹1 crore to establish the showroom and met all contractual responsibilities. Despite this, Gupta contended that he did not receive the expected business support after the showroom commenced operations, leading to considerable financial losses. Furthermore, he alleged that the outlet responsible for supplying Being Human jewellery has been closed since February 2020, severely affecting inventory and operations. The complaint mentioned that six individuals linked to the company had misrepresented the opportunity and persuaded him to invest. The company has denied these claims, stating that Salman Khan was not directly involved in the 2018 agreement with the businessman. They noted that the jewellery enterprise was being independently managed by Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd under a brand licensing agreement. According to the company, the Being Human brand was licensed to them by the Salman Khan Foundation in 2015, and the onus of operating, marketing, and selling the jewellery business lay solely with the firm. The case will be presented again in the Chandigarh district court on 5 October, where introductions and responses from Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd are anticipated.
