Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation of Mumbai Courts
MUMBAI: Authorities evacuated the Bandra magistrate court on Thursday morning after receiving a bomb threat through email. Following the alarming message, law enforcement officials from the Nirmal Nagar police station, along with the bomb detection and disposal squad, swiftly arrived at the court premises to conduct a comprehensive search. Fortunately, no suspicious items were discovered during the inspection.
In addition to the Bandra court, both the Bombay High Court and the Esplanade court in south Mumbai also received similar threat emails. Security teams promptly checked these locations as well, concluding the searches without finding any evidence of a threat.
Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation to identify the source of the threatening email, aiming to determine who sent it and the rationale behind the threat. The situation has raised concerns over security protocols in the city's judicial institutions, prompting discussions on the need for enhanced measures to ensure safety in public spaces.
A police spokesperson stated, "We take such threats very seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens. Our investigation is underway, and we will pursue all leads to apprehend those responsible for this incident." The police are expected to increase vigilance in the wake of this scare, as they continue to monitor any further developments related to the case.
