Bomb Threat Hoax at Delhi School Dismissed by Police
On Thursday morning, a private educational institution in Chanakyapuri, Delhi, received an email indicating a bomb threat. The Delhi Police quickly initiated an investigation and have since classified the threat as a hoax. The incident unfolded at Sanskriti School, located in the upscale neighbourhood of Chanakyapuri.
This bomb threat comes in the wake of a tragic terror attack that occurred near the Red Fort area on November 10, which resulted in the deaths of over ten individuals. The attack involved an explosion from a slow-moving Hyundai i20, which detonated close to the Gate number one of the Lal Quila Metro Station, marking a significant security concern for the capital.
Earlier this week, several court complexes, including Patiala House, Saket, Rohini, and Tis Hazari, were evacuated following similar bomb threats. In addition to the court buildings, two schools in Delhi were also targeted with threats. However, after thorough investigations, the Delhi Police declared these threats to be false alarms.
A police spokesperson stated, “We received an email stating that bombs were planted in various courts, including Delhi district courts and two Central Reserve Police Force schools located in Dwarka and Prashant Vihar.”
The recent bomb threat hoax has heightened anxiety in Delhi, especially after the preceding blast incident. Following the explosion, the national capital has been on high alert, with authorities stepping up security measures to prevent further attacks. Investigations into the Red Fort blast have led police to scrutinise encrypted communication channels such as Telegram and Signal for any leads.
As part of the ongoing investigation, officials are focusing on at least seven individuals linked to these encrypted group chats. Reports indicate that many of these individuals are professionals in the medical field. The Delhi Police’s special cell is collaborating with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the probe to ensure thorough oversight and to address any potential threats.
The spate of threats and the recent tragic events have underscored the necessity for stringent security protocols in the region. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure safety in the capital.
The Delhi Police continue to monitor the situation closely, aiming to restore confidence among residents and maintain public safety during this tense period.
