BJP Leaders Urge Focus on Development in Telangana Municipal Elections

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin recently visited Telangana, where he emphasised the need for party members to prepare for the upcoming municipal elections. Speaking at a booth-level gathering in Nampally, he called for a new approach prioritising service, sacrifice, and commitment, rather than the pursuit of power.

During his visit, Nitin Nabin virtually inaugurated nine new BJP district offices aimed at enhancing organisational strength in the state. He described these offices as 'Sankalp Kendras' (Centres of Resolve) and 'Seva Kendras' (Service Centres), reinforcing their role as hubs of community service. He reminded party workers that success in elections starts at the grassroots level, reiterating the slogan, 'booth jita toh chunav jita' which translates to 'win the booth, win the election'.

As the municipal elections approach, Nabin positioned the BJP as a viable alternative to the ruling Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), criticising the current parties for corruption and governance failures. He stated, "We want politics of development, not politics of dynasty and corruption," urging party members to reach out to every village and urban neighbourhood to spread the BJP's message.

Nabin paid homage to various leaders integral to Telangana’s history, linking their visions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat', or 'One India, Great India'. Highlighting the party's long-standing engagement in the state, he countered claims that the BJP is an outsider party, citing that one of its two Members of Parliament elected in 1984 was from Telangana.

He attributed the BJP's potential to bring about significant political change in Telangana to the groundwork laid by local party workers over the years. Nabin also pointed to central government welfare initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, housing schemes, and access to clean drinking water as examples of how the BJP is dedicated to improving the lives of citizens in Telangana.

State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao joined Nabin in the gathering, dismissing opposition allegations regarding the party’s voter identification measures and suggesting that rival parties were spreading misinformation. He concluded by appealing to the citizens to strengthen the BJP in light of its previous successes, highlighting that the party's approach prioritises the nation followed by the party and lastly the individual.

With the BJP focused on building a robust organisational structure in Telangana, the leadership feels confident that they can replicate recent electoral successes seen in other regions of India, particularly following victories in northern states such as Bihar and West Bengal. As they prepare for the elections, the party's emphasis on grassroots mobilisation continues to be a pivotal strategy for gaining support across the state.
