Bentley Unveils Limited-Edition Continental GT Supersports
Bentley Motors has officially introduced the Continental GT Supersports, a new high-performance model that signifies a shift in the brand's approach to luxury sports cars. This limited-edition vehicle is set to be produced in just 500 units, each individually numbered, with orders commencing in March 2026 and deliveries anticipated to start in early 2027.
A Groundbreaking Design
The Continental GT Supersports marks a significant evolution from the traditional grand-touring specification associated with its predecessors. For the first time in the Continental line, this model features a rear-wheel-drive layout, enhancing its performance capabilities. Weighing in at under two tonnes, it is touted as the lightest Bentley produced in 85 years, thanks to extensive weight-reduction measures including the removal of rear seats and the use of a carbon-fibre rear tub.
Power and Performance
The Supersports is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 666 brake horsepower and 800 Newton-metres of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing for swift gear changes. Enhanced components such as upgraded cylinder heads, a reinforced crankcase, and larger turbochargers contribute to its formidable performance. Bentley claims the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 3.7 seconds, with a top speed estimated at around 310 kilometres per hour, pending certification.
Chassis Innovations
The transition to rear-wheel drive has facilitated significant recalibrations to the car's chassis. This includes a widened rear track, new rear-wheel steering capabilities, and revised suspension settings. The vehicle is equipped with advanced stability control systems, including a mode that allows for complete deactivation, enabling a more dynamic driving experience with controlled oversteering. Three distinct driving modesāTouring, Bentley, and Sportāallow drivers to adjust various settings such as throttle response and suspension stiffness.
Braking and Wheels
The braking system of the Supersports is notable for its use of carbon-silicon-carbide discs, with 440mm front discs featuring ten-piston calipers, believed to be the largest fitted on any production vehicle. The rear discs measure 410mm. The car sits on 22-inch forged wheels, developed in collaboration with Manthey Racing, and can be fitted with optional Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres, designed to enhance grip and handling.
Aerodynamic Enhancements
Bentley has focused on aerodynamics in the design of the Continental GT Supersports. Key features include a large front splitter, carbon-fibre dive planes, and a fixed rear wing, all contributing to a significant increase in downforce compared to the GT Speed. The exterior design is crafted to ensure balanced lift distribution, enhancing the overall driving dynamics.
Interior Features
Inside, the Supersports offers a two-seat configuration with lightweight sports seats designed for increased support. The cabin is adorned with high-quality materials including leather, Dinamica, and carbon fibre, with options for various colour schemes and finishes. Carbon-fibre veneers are standard, and customers can choose from a selection of personalisation options, allowing for a bespoke experience.
Launch Themes and Availability
The production of the Continental GT Supersports is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the model set to be marketed primarily in regions such as the United Kingdom, European Union, North America, Australia, New Zealand, and select markets in the Middle East and Asia. Notably, Bentley has established two launch themes: 'Nightfall', featuring an anthracite gloss body with camel accents, and 'Daybreak', which showcases a jetstream matte finish with striking striping.
As the luxury automobile sector evolves, the Bentley Continental GT Supersports stands out as a symbol of performance and exclusivity, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
