Australia Announces Squad for Upcoming Bangladesh and New Zealand Series

Australia's cricket team has announced a squad of 14 players for limited-overs matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand scheduled for October. Following their success in the Women's T20 World Cup earlier this year, the squad will compete in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against New Zealand.

The ODI series against Bangladesh will commence on 9 October at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Subsequent matches will take place on 11 and 14 October at the same venue. The T20I series against New Zealand will begin on 18 October, with all matches hosted at North Sydney Oval.

Sophie Molineux will captain the team, although her participation will be evaluated due to a hip injury. Darcy Brown will miss the series owing to a back injury, while Lucy Hamilton will also sit out the ODIs due to a quad strain.

Selector Shawn Flegler emphasised the importance of the ODIs against Bangladesh, highlighting the need for the squad to gain experience ahead of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy next year. "Bangladesh will be a really good test, particularly with the quality they have in their bowling attack," Flegler stated. He noted the series provides an excellent opportunity for batters to face subcontinent-style bowling.
