Apple iPhone 18 Pro Launch Schedule and Pricing Insights
Apple Inc. is set to alter its traditional iPhone release approach, moving away from the usual September launch for all models. According to reports, the upcoming iPhone 18 will not have a standard edition this year. Instead, Apple plans to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, along with a new foldable device, potentially named iPhone Ultra, during a keynote in September 2026.
The regular iPhone 18 is now projected to arrive in Spring 2027, coinciding with the anticipated release of a more budget-friendly version, the iPhone 18e. This revised schedule aims to alleviate the overcrowding of Apple's September event, manage rising component costs, and allow for earlier availability of models for customers whose contracts end or receive holiday gifts.
Among the reasons for this change is the belief that launching multiple models simultaneously could overshadow the new foldable device. As highlighted by Michael Burkhardt from 9to5Mac, introducing the foldable alongside the Pro models could create a highly congested product reveal. The focus on the foldable seeks to ensure it receives the attention it merits.
Following the previous trend, where Apple released multiple iPhones in succession, such as the iPhone 17 and its variants in September 2025, and the iPhone 17e arriving in March 2026, this new strategy may redefine how Apple presents its products to consumers.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also expected to see significant price hikes upon release. Analysts suggest that the cost could increase by up to $300 compared to their predecessors, attributed mainly to the introduction of a new 2nm processor and surging memory prices. This points to a potential launch price increase of up to ₹26,000 in India.
Despite the absence of the regular iPhone this year, Apple aims to provide customers with various options in Spring 2027, including the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e. Furthermore, a second-generation version of the iPhone Air is also projected to arrive during this timeframe.
The next Apple event is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, although some speculate September 8 could be another possible date. Apple has notably never hosted an iPhone unveiling the day after Labour Day, which falls on September 7 this year.
During this event, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone are expected to be showcased, alongside the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Pre-orders for these new iPhones will likely launch on Friday, September 11, followed by availability in stores on September 18, 2026.
