Akshaye Khanna may reunite with Akshay Kumar in the upcoming Bhagam Bhag 2, nearly two decades after the original film's release.

Mumbai, December 14 - Anticipation is building around the potential sequel to the 2006 comedy film Bhagam Bhag, with reports suggesting that actor Akshaye Khanna may join forces with superstar Akshay Kumar. Nearly twenty years after the original film became popular, this sequel has generated excitement among fans of both actors.

Several credible sources indicate that Akshaye Khanna has been confirmed to star alongside Akshay Kumar and Meenakshi Chaudhary, who is expected to take on the female lead role in the comedy sequel. Although the official announcement has yet to be made, the reunion of Khanna and Kumar is particularly noteworthy, as the two actors last appeared together in the 2010 film Tees Maar Khan.

Khanna has recently been in the spotlight for his performances in two films this year: the intense drama Chhaava, where he portrayed the antagonist Aurangzeb, and the action-thriller Dhurandhar Part 1, in which he played gangster Rehman Dakait. His role in Dhurandhar has been particularly well-received, with audiences praising his performance and the film's success at the box office.

According to reports, Bhagam Bhag 2 will be directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for his previous work on the film Dream Girl, which effectively combined humour with engaging storytelling. Currently, the sequel is in the pre-production phase, with filming expected to commence in February 2026 and a potential release later that year.

The original Bhagam Bhag, directed by Priyadarshan, featured a stellar ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal. The story centred on a struggling theatre group that becomes entangled in a murder investigation while navigating chaotic circumstances. The film was praised for its comedic elements and engaging plot.

As fans await confirmation regarding the sequel, the excitement surrounding Bhagam Bhag 2 reflects the enduring popularity of the original film and the strong chemistry between its stars. The potential for another comedic adventure with Akshaye Khanna and Akshay Kumar has many eagerly anticipating what the sequel might bring.

In addition to Bhagam Bhag 2, Akshaye Khanna is also set to appear in Dhurandhar Part 2 and Mahakali, where he will portray the character Shukracharya. Mahakali is expected to be released in theatres in 2026, adding to Khanna's growing filmography. Furthermore, he will reprise his role as IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 3, alongside notable actors Ajay Devgn and Tabu, with a release date tentatively set for October 2, 2026.

As the entertainment industry gears up for these exciting projects, fans are hopeful for a formal announcement regarding Bhagam Bhag 2, which promises to be one of the most eagerly anticipated comedy films in the coming years.
