Akanksha Chamola Discusses Life After Separation from Gaurav Khanna
Actor Akanksha Chamola has revealed her thoughts on love and relationships following her separation from fellow actor Gaurav Khanna. In the inaugural episode of the reality show 'Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa', Akanksha confirmed that the couple has been living apart for over a year and are now pursuing divorce. This news came as a surprise to fans who found out about the couple's split on the show, which premiered on Netflix.
During a candid conversation with social media influencer Shreya Kalra, Akanksha shared that she is not ready to enter a new romantic relationship. She expressed, "I don’t know, but not at the moment. Yeah! I want to enjoy my freedom. See, I got married when I was very young. At 24, I had tied the knot. I haven’t explored that much. So, after 10 years of being in a good relationship, I now have time to explore and have that kind of freedom. Hence, I don’t want to get into something else."
Akanksha further explained that the split was a mutual decision, stating, "Me and Gaurav are getting a divorce. Yes, we have been separated and living separately for the last year. It has not been made public. We have been sitting on it for the last year."
Despite the separation, she clarified that her relationship with Gaurav remains amicable. "Things are not bad between me and Gaurav. We still talk to each other. We don't think we are compatible as partners because we both see a very different future. Unfortunately, it's not with each other," she added.
The couple married in 2016 and had become a well-known pair in Indian television. Akanksha also participated in 'Bigg Boss 19' during its family week in November 2025, where they appeared affectionate towards each other, continuing to post about their relationship on social media until relatively recently. They were seen celebrating Akanksha’s birthday together in January 2026, raising questions among fans about the state of their marriage.
In another notable incident, fellow television personality Rakhi Sawant reacted sceptically to Akanksha’s announcement, labelling her a "liar" in an Instagram comment, indicating a public disbelief regarding the separation. In response, Akanksha previously addressed speculation about her marriage by stating that there was no trouble and that comments made on social media were misunderstood.
Now, with her focus on personal freedom and self-exploration, Akanksha Chamola looks toward a future that prioritises her own aspirations over a romantic relationship. The current season of 'Lock Upp' aims to bring a blend of entertainment and drama, catering to a wide audience on Netflix, which has already set a vibrant stage upon its recent release.
