Microsoft Enhances Windows 11 with Real-Time Performance Logging
A new update for Windows 11 allows users to log performance issues in real-time, aiming to improve responsiveness and address user complaints.

Microsoft Corporation has launched a new feature in Windows 11 aimed at tackling ongoing performance issues that users have reported since the operating system's debut in October 2021. This initiative introduces an automatic logging mechanism that enables users to submit real-time performance logs through the Feedback Hub when they experience slow or unresponsive behaviour on their devices.

This feature was introduced as part of a recent Insider test build released last week, as reported by The Verge. Users enrolled in the Windows Insider Programme will now find it easier to report problems, thereby allowing Microsoft to collect diagnostic information more effectively.

In a statement, Microsoft emphasised, "Windows Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback when experiencing PC issues related to slow or sluggish performance, allowing the Feedback Hub to automatically collect these logs, which will help us root cause issues faster." This highlights Microsoft's commitment to understanding and rectifying the performance complaints that have been prevalent among Windows 11 users.

Since the launch of Windows 11, many users have reported inconsistent performance across various hardware setups. Complaints have ranged from disappointing gaming experiences on modern processors to a growing belief that Windows 11 operates slower compared to its predecessor, Windows 10. Microsoft has already initiated several internal adjustments aimed at improving system performance. These include enhancements to the Taskbar, notification settings, and quick access features introduced earlier this year.

The latest move by Microsoft signifies a shift towards a more engaged approach in responding to user feedback. The upcoming 25H2 update is anticipated to build on the improvements made in the 24H2 release, which was credited with enhancing performance on older computing systems.

In addition to these user-facing upgrades, Microsoft is also tightening standards related to driver development. As part of the 25H2 update, developers will be mandated to conduct static analyses on their drivers before receiving certification. This new requirement aims to identify potential issues in the driver code early in the deployment process, thereby enhancing system stability and performance.

By fostering a more intuitive performance monitoring experience, Microsoft hopes to diminish criticism surrounding Windows 11 and ensure a more seamless operation across various devices. As the tech giant continues to roll out updates, it remains to be seen how effective these measures will be in addressing long-standing performance concerns.
