During the visit, EAM Jaishankar will explore avenues to further enhance the bilateral relationship
External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will pay an official visit to the UAE from January 27-29, 2025, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Monday (January 27, 2025).
During his Dubai visit, EAM Jaishankar will meet the leadership of the UAE to review the close partnership between the two countries and explore avenues to further enhance the bilateral relationship. He will also deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session of Raisina Middle East to be held in Abu Dhabi, the MEA said.
“The visit will provide an opportunity to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries and add new momentum to the India - UAE relationship,” the MEA stated.
Dr Jaishankar will be in Dubai less than two months after UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited New Delhi for the 4th India-UAE Strategic Dialogue and the 15th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) on December 13, 2025.
The high-level meetings, co-chaired by Dr Jaishankar and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, showcased a robust move aimed at fostering collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, energy, defence, technology, and education.
The visiting UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting, held in New Delhi on December 12, 2024 underscored the growing collaboration between the two nations across key areas, including technology, energy, and regional connectivity.
Bilateral relations between India and the UAE gained a new momentum with Prime Minister Modi’s visit in 2015, the first by an Indian PM in 34 years.
The India-UAE bilateral relationship was formally elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India in 2017. The partnership has since emerged as a cornerstone of India’s engagement with the West Asia region.
Over the years, it has expanded beyond traditional areas of cooperation, such as trade and energy, to include strategic dialogues on regional security, technological innovation, and climate resilience.
