The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has secured a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests, becoming a key player in India's electric SUV market.

The 2025 Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has successfully attained a full 5-star safety rating in the recent Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) crash tests. This achievement makes it the fourth vehicle from Maruti Suzuki to reach this pinnacle of safety ratings, joining the Dzire, Victoris, and Invicto models. This rating further underscores the company's commitment to safety in its vehicle lineup.

The e Vitara, produced in India, previously received a 4-star rating from the Euro NCAP, demonstrating its strong safety credentials on an international level. In the Bharat NCAP assessment, the e Vitara excelled in both Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection categories, scoring 31.49 out of a possible 32 points for adults and 43 out of 49 points for child safety.

Safety Test Highlights

In the frontal offset crash test, conducted at a speed of 64 km/h, the e Vitara provided ‘good’ protection to the head and neck of both the driver and front passenger. The driver’s chest protection was deemed ‘adequate’, while the passenger’s chest received a ‘good’ rating. The vehicle also showed commendable safety for the thighs and pelvis regions.

The side impact test, which involved a crash against a deformable barrier, also yielded 'good' ratings across all assessed areas for the driver. The side pole test mirrored these results, demonstrating the vehicle's robust safety design.

For child occupant protection, the e Vitara delivered stellar results, achieving full marks in dynamic testing and installation of child restraint systems. The vehicle scored 12 points for the protection offered to an 18-month-old child and a perfect score for a 3-year-old child during testing.

Advanced Safety Features

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is equipped with numerous safety features, including seven airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at Level 2. Additionally, it boasts a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and various sensors to enhance parking and driving safety.

Market Position and Competition

Anticipated pricing for the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to start around ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively within the growing electric vehicle market in India. The vehicle is manufactured at Maruti's facility in Gujarat, with production having commenced in August 2025. It is designed to compete against notable rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Tata Curvv EV.

With the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki aims to establish a strong foothold in the electric SUV segment, offering consumers a blend of safety, technology, and performance. The company has announced plans to launch the vehicle in January 2026, with bookings likely to open soon, marking a significant step in its electrification journey.
