India and Italy agree to promote safe and resilient cyberspace

At their inaugural Cyber Dialogue, India and Italy also discussed protection of critical information infrastructure
India and Italy held their first Cyber Dialogue on Friday in New Delhi and exchanged views on the cyber threat landscape, national cyber strategies, and policies.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two sides also discussed protection of critical information infrastructure and mechanisms for capacity building initiatives.
Both sides also explored collaborative opportunities in multilateral forums, particularly concerning recent developments in the cyber domain at the United Nations and “agreed to enhance cooperation between their respective agencies to foster a safe and resilient cyberspace,” the MEA added.
This Dialogue takes forward the decision taken during the State visit of the Italian Prime Minister to India on March 2-3, 2023, where both leaders agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in cyberspace, the MEA maintained.
The bilateral meeting was co-chaired by Amit A. Shukla, Joint Secretary (Cyber Diplomacy), Ministry of External Affairs of India and Minister Plenipotentiary Michele Giacomelli, Head of the Unit for Technological Innovation and Cybersecurity at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Indian delegation included officials from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and CERT-In.
The Italian delegation consisted of representatives from the National Cyber Security Agency, the Postal Police and Cyber Security Service, as well as the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi.
