India, St Kitts & Nevis ink agreement on sharing of digital public infrastructure

St Kitts and Nevis is part of CARICOM, or the Caribbean Community
In a major boost to bilateral ties, India and St Kitts & Nevis have signed an agreement on India STACK, which will enable cooperation in the field of digitalization. The two sides have also signed a bilateral agreement for cooperation in the field of sports, especially sports medicines and training of athletes, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday (August 9, 2024).
The pacts were inked during the India visit of Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation of St. Christopher (Kitts) & Nevis, at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. His official visit from August 4-9, 2024 was the first-ever foreign ministerial visit from St. Kitts & Nevis to India, signalling the intent of both countries to forge closer ties and collaborate across diverse sectors.
St Kitts and Nevis is part of CARICOM, or the Caribbean Community, which is a grouping of 20 countries -15 Member States and 5 Associate Members.

According to the MEA, both the Ministers held consultations on a wide range of issues covering cooperation in defence and security, health and pharma, training of personnel, renewable energy, agriculture and food security, sharing of digital public infrastructures and development cooperation. The two Ministers exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest and reiterated commitment to closer cooperation in multilateral fora.
"The Ministers also agreed to hold interactions at regular intervals to impart momentum in bilateral relations," the MEA stated.
The St Kitts & Nevis Foreign Minister held meetings with Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Technology and PR Hari, Chairman and Managing-Director, GRSE.
During the meetings, both the sides exchanged views on exploring further opportunities to enhance the bilateral ties, the MEA said.
"St. Kitts & Nevis is one of our valuable partners in the Global South and the meeting between the two ministers have further intensified the existing cooperation, underlining our common vision and strong voice for the welfare of our partners among the Global South and the Small Island Developing States (SIDS)," the MEA stated.
