Dubai also provides land for an Indian Community Hospital
In a bid to provide a further impetus to bilateral trade between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum virtually laid the foundation stone of Bharat Mart at Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone in Dubai on 14 February 2024. The facility will be built by DP World.
 
According to an official release, the two leaders expressed confidence that Bharat Mart will propel India-UAE bilateral trade further by leveraging Jebel Ali Port’s strategic location and strength in logistics.
 
Prime Minister Modi said that Bharat Mart has the potential to play an important role in promoting exports of the micro, small and medium sectors of India by providing them an effective platform to reach out to international buyers in the Gulf, West Asia, Africa, and Eurasia.
 
During their meeting, both leaders held discussions on a wide range of areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, technology, space, education and people-to-people ties. They expressed their satisfaction at the rapidly growing economic and commercial ties between India and the UAE, and acknowledged in particular the key role played by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. They also welcomed the signing of the Bilateral Investment Treaty on Tuesday (February 13, 2024).
 
According to an official release, Prime Minister Modi thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his graciousness towards the Indian community living in Dubai. Both leaders acknowledged the contribution of the Indian Diaspora in Dubai’s evolution into a global hub for trade, services and tourism.
 
Prime Minister Modi also expressed deep appreciation to Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for the grant of land for an Indian Community Hospital in Dubai which will offer affordable healthcare facilities for the Indian blue-collar workers.
