The exercise focused on fostering greater security for the Maldives
'Exercise Ekatha 2023' between the Maldives National Defence Force Coast Guard and the Indian Navy ended successfully on July 3, 2023, further strengthening the maritime partnership between the two nations.

The exercise, which began on June 4, 2023, was attended by MNDF sailors and Indian Navy marine commandos (MARCOS).

The comprehensive training program emphasized various skills and techniques, including asymmetric warfare, firing, explosive demolition, diving, rebreather diving, and competitive self-defense techniques. The primary objective of the exercise was to enhance the capacities of the MNDF and contribute to the overall security of the Maldives.

The closing ceremony was held on July 2, 2023, at the Headquarters of MNDF Central Area Command, where the guest of honor was MNDF Coast Guard Commandant Brigadier General Ibrahim Hilmy. He handed over certificates to the training team of the Indian Navy, while Deputy High Commissioner of India to Maldives Mayank Singh handed certificates to the sailors of MNDF Coast Guard that took part in the exercise. Team leader of Indian Navy training team Lieutenant Commander Sorab Malik, presented an overview of the exercise.

The attendees at the ceremony included Deputy Commander of MNDF Central Area Command Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Faseeh, Defence Advisor from India to Maldives Captain Mahesh C. Moudgil, officers of Central Area Command, and officers of MNDF Coast Guard.

The Maldives National Defence Force on July 3, 2023 tweeted that the exercise highlighted the steadfast 'Ekatha' partnership between MNDF Coast Guard and the Indian Navy. The exercise served as a platform for joint training and knowledge exchange between the Indian Navy and the MNDF Coast Guard.
