India and Israel discussed closer cooperation in areas like high technology, digital and connectivity during a meeting between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in New Delhi
on Tuesday (May 9, 2023). The two sides also signed agreements pertaining to water, agriculture, and mobility.

EAM Jaishakar later described the discussions as "productive and wide-ranging".

@elicoh1 of Israel this afternoon. The main pillars of our Strategic Partnership - Agriculture, Water, Defence & Security - are taking our ties forward. New agreements in water & agriculture today underline the potential to do more.

Discussed cooperation in ways high tech, digital & innovation, as also connectivity, mobility tourism, finance, and health," he wrote on Twitter.

EAM Jaishankar said that during the discussions, they noted the progress in I2U2 and cooperation in multilateral forums in addition to exchanging perspectives "on our respective regions, Ukraine and Indo-Pacific".

"Initialed an agreement in the area of mobility," he added in the tweet.

"Excellent meeting with the Foreign Minister of India - @DrSJaishankar. We are strengthening ties with the most populous country in the world, and expanding cooperation in the fields of cyber, agriculture and water," the Israeli Foreign Minister tweeted.

"Our cooperation will strengthen Israel's position in the world and stability in the Middle East," he added.

The two ministers paid homage at the Teen Murti Haifa Chowk earlier in the
day. "Paid homage at the Teen Murti Haifa Chowk with FM @elicoh1. This symbol of our shared history reflects the enduring India-Israel friendship," EAM Jaishankar tweeted.
