Exercise Ajeya Warrior-23 aims to improve military cooperation between India and the UK
The 7th edition of the joint military exercise between India and the United Kingdom, known as 'Ajeya Warrior-23', is currently underway at Salisbury Plains in the UK from April 27 to May 11, 2023.

It is a biennial training exercise that alternates between the two countries, with the previous edition being held in Uttarakhand, India, in October 2021.

According to information provided by India's Ministry of Defence, the exercise involves soldiers from the 2 Royal Gorkha Rifles of the UK and the Bihar Regiment of the Indian Army. The Indian Army contingent arrived at Brize Norton on April 26, 2023, with their own weapons and equipment aboard an Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft.

The primary objective of this exercise is to enhance military relations between the two nations, learn from each other's best practices, and foster the ability to work together while conducting sub-conventional operations in urban and semi-urban settings under UN mandate. Additionally, the exercise aims to promote inter-operability, camaraderie, and friendship between the two armies.

The exercise will include a Command Post Exercise (CPX) at the Battalion level and a Company-level Field Training Exercise (FTX). Participants will be put through various simulated situations, testing their operational skills, showcasing their tactical drills, and learning from each other's operational experiences.

As per the official press release from the Ministry of Defense, the exercise is a significant milestone in the defence cooperation between the Indian Army and the British Army, which will strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations even further.
