THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ROZGAR MELAS Prime Minister Modi launched the Rozgar Mela - an ambitious recruitment drive aimed at hiring 10 lakh people - via video conferencing in October 2022. During the event, 75,000 newly appointed individuals were presented with their appointment letters. According to the government, the initiative is a crucial step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister's commitment to providing job opportunities for the youth and ensuring the welfare of citizens. Selection processes have been simplified and modernized, making it quicker and easier to recruit new employees. Typically, Rozgar Melas are designed to provide job opportunities to the youth, aged between 18 and 35 years, who possess academic qualifications ranging from 8th, 10th, and 12th grades to ITI, diploma, and graduation, and those certified under the National Skills Qualifications Framework. Job seekers are informed about the Rozgar Mela through a variety of channels, such as print ads, bulk SMS, social media, and workshops at colleges and universities in and around the districts of the Rozgar Mela. The Rozgar Melas come with a host of activities, including counseling sessions for job seekers and their parents, Kaushal Melas to register young people for fresh skill development training (PMKK/PMKVY), Mudra Loan Facilitation Counters, and Skill Exhibitions where Sector Skill Councils demonstrate the training model, equipment, and job roles in their respective sectors.
