The B20 India meeting, which focused on ICT, Healthcare, Tourism, and Handloom themes.
Manipur is hosting the first Business 20 (B20) meeting held under India's G20 presidency. The B20 is the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community.
On Friday, Manipur hosted the first of four B20 sessions. It was attended by high-ranking government officials, including the Chief Minister of Manipur, the Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, and the Minister of State for External Affairs of the Indian Government, as well as senior officials from both the state and the center.
Around 50 delegates from 23 countries and 150 domestic industry leaders are attending the B20 India meeting, which is focused on ICT, Healthcare, Tourism, and Handloom themes.
In addition to these meetings, over 100 B2B and B2G meetings are planned all across the country, allowing visiting overseas business delegates to interact with the local industry and government departments for potential investment, collaboration, and tie-ups.
Earlier, on Thursday, Manipur Education Minister Th Basantakumar said that over 100 B2B and B2G requests were generated, including requests for interaction with government departments such as Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development, Sports, Urban Development, Textiles, Finance and Taxation, Tourism, Industries and Commerce, IT, Agriculture, and Fisheries.
He added that the Manipur government also took advantage of the presence of a large contingent of international delegates and made elaborate arrangements to showcase investment and partnership opportunities in the state while providing a unique experience for visiting delegates with exposure to Manipur's culture, cuisine, art, festivities, and scenic beauty.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has plans to facilitate meetings between businesses and the government in Manipur, giving foreign delegates the opportunity to connect with local business leaders, as revealed by the minister.
Aside from these meetings, the three-day event will offer visiting delegates a chance to explore some of Manipur's most famous landmarks, including the Marjing Polo Statue, Loktak Lake, INA headquarters, Sangai Ethnic Park, Ima Keithel, and Kangla Fort.
Established in 2010, B20 is among the most prominent Engagement Groups in G20, with companies and business organizations as participants. The B20 leads the process of galvanizing global business leaders for their views on issues of global economic and trade governance and speaks in a single voice for the entire G20 business community.
