India has sent search & rescue personnel, dog squads, drilling machines, relief material, and medicines
Turkey thanked 'dost' (friend) India as National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) search and rescue teams, dog squads, equipment, and medical personnel reached the earthquake-hit nation.

The first C17 aircraft carrying the NDRF personnel and equipment arrived in Turkey's Adana early on Tuesday; a second C-17 aircraft carrying more personnel and equipment left India later in the day.

Over 3,000 people are reported to have died due to the earthquake in Turkey while nearly 1,500 are believed to have perished in neighbouring Syria.

"Dost is a common word in Turkish and Hindi... We have a Turkish proverb: "Dost kara günde belli olur" (a friend in need is a friend indeed). Thank you very much India," Turkish Ambassador to India Firat Sunel said on Twitter late on Monday night, after India announced that it would dispatch specialised personnel and equipment to help with earthquake-relief operations.

Sunel was responding to a tweet by MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Minister of State (MoS) V Muraleedharan's visit to the Embassy of Turkey in New Delhi to express condolences on the devastation caused by a series of earthquakes which have hit the nation since early on Monday morning.

"MoS @MoS_MEA visited Embassy of Türkiye to express condolences on the devastation caused by today's earthquakes.Conveyed PM @narendramodi’s message of sympathy & humanitarian support. The Indian Army has also sent a medical team equipped with essential machines and equipment to set up a medical facility in the earthquake-affected area.
