Assam is showcasing the natural beauty and unique culture of North-east India as the state hosts a series of G20 meetings under India's Presidency over the next few months. The Youth 20 Inception meeting will be held in state capital Guwahati from February 6-8. The capital of Assam has just finished hosting the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group Meeting. The G20 delegates had the opportunity to visit Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and got a chance to learn about the diversity of flora & fauna of India. The administration also used the occasion to showcase the cuisine, culture, and handicrafts of North-east India at a picturesque hub that came up on a sandbar on the Brahmaputra river. The delegates also got a chance to enjoy Assamese cuisine like 'Masor Tenga' and 'Aloo Pitika'. They also took a look at traditional handicrafts besides witnessing traditional dance forms during a cultural programme. This was not all. The Union Ministry of Ayush organised Yoga sessions for G20 delegates during the First Sustainable Finance Working Group meeting. Additionally, with 2023 being celebrated as the International Year of Millets, the G20 delegates wer served with a variety of dishes like 'Millet-Vada' and 'Millet-Pancake'. What the meetings are all about Youth20, or Y20, is one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20. India will host the Youth20 Summit 2023 later this year. The Youth 20 Inception meeting in Guwahati will set the ball rolling for discussions pan-India, to consult the youth of the nation on ideas for a better tomorrow and draft an agenda for action. Y20 will provide a platform for youth to express their perspectives and ideas on G20 priorities. The G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group Meeting was inaugurated by Union Minister Sadananda Sonowal. The meeting had sessions on topics like 'Enabling finance for the Sustainable Development Goals' and 'Mechanisms of mobilising financial resources for climate finance'. The city will also host the SAI Inception meeting and an RIIG side-event in March. Another city in Assam, Dibrugarh, will host the 2nd Employment Working Group meeting in April.
