Prime Minister Narendra Modi amd Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have expressed satisfaction at the rapid progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in recent years.

Prime Minister Modi spoke on telephone today with his Israeli counterpart on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

Prime Minister Modi conveyed his warm congratulations to Netanyahu for his election as the Prime Minister of Israel for a sixth time, and wished him a very successful tenure.

"Was a pleasure to speak with my good friend, @netanyahu. Congratulated him for his impressive election win and for becoming Prime Minister for a record sixth time. Delighted that we will have another chance to advance the India-Israel Strategic Partnership together. @IsraeliPM," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

According to the MEA, the two leaders expressed satisfaction at the rapid progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in recent years, and agreed on the potential for further strengthening strategic cooperation in a variety of areas.

During the telephone conversation, Prime Minister also invited PM Netanyahu to visit India at an early date.

Benjamin Netanyahu was sworn in as Israel's Prime Minister for the sixth time on December 29 and the Indian Prime Minister took to Twitter to congratulate him. "Heartiest congratulations Netanyahu for forming the government. Looking forward to working together to strengthen our strategic partnership," Modi had tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi and PM Netanyahu enjoy a warm personal relationship and have met numerous times in the past several years. In the last few years, India-Israel ties have become stronger in a wide range of sectors, including defence, agriculture and water.
