He highlighted the extraordinary scale of digital delivery that has enabled access to social benefits
India is changing at a pace and manner that is unprecedented, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said as he delivered the inaugural address at the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 on Sunday.

"My message to you today is that India is changing in front of our eyes. And at a pace and a manner that is unprecedented," EAM Jaishankar said.
He added that the country had a leadership that is providing both the vision and the guidance to emerge as a leading power in the days ahead.

"I am very confident that the Indian youth – at home and abroad, will take up the challenge and help to propel this country to greater heights," EAM Jaishankar remarked.

During his address, he highlighted the following points.

* The extraordinary scale of digital delivery has made possible access to social benefits and that too without leakage.

* Equally evident is the improved health infrastructure and indeed, the greater awareness and expectations on that score.

* You would also see also enormous infrastructure activity, in fact as you come in from the airport, you can see the construction which is going on, and these are propelled by the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti initiative.

* Most of all, you would sense the optimism in our society and the highlighting of the role of the youth. Whether it is start-ups or sports, whether it is technology usage or tourism, the energies of young India are increasingly visible.

* What is perhaps unique about us is the intensity of the bonding between the community abroad and the motherland.

Australia's Member of Parliament Zaneta Mascarenhas was the guest of honour on the occasion. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur also addressed the gathering.

The theme of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention 2023 is 'Diaspora: Reliable partners for India's progress in Amrit Kaal'. More than 3,500 diaspora members from 70 countries are expected to take part in the three-day convention, which is being organised in physical mode for the first time since 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the PBD convention on Monday (January 9). Cooperative Republic of Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali will be the chief guest and Republic of Suriname President Chandrikapersad Santokhi will be the special guest of honour.

The third day of the PBD Convention on Tuesday will see President Droupadi Murmu confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2023 and preside over the Valedictory Session.

With 34 million People of Indian Origin and Non-Resident Indians, India has the largest diaspora in the world.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated on January 9 to mark the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai from South Africa on that day in 1915. Since 2015, the convention is being organised every two years to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community to the development of the nation.
