The cadets are chosen after going through several rounds of screening
Cadets and commanders from 19 friendly nations will take part in the 74th National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2023, which began at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment on January 2, 2023.

Participants in the one-month camp include 2,155 cadets, including 710 females, from all 28 states and 8 union territories. NCC Director General Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh shared the details at a press conference in New Delhi on Friday.

In his remarks to the media, the DG NCC said that the 19 friendly nations represented by the cadets and officers competing in the RDC 2023 include the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Mongolia, Russia, the Kyrgyz Republic of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Vietnam, the Maldives, Mozambique, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Sudan, New Zealand, and Fiji.

Out of 2155 cadets, 114 are from Ladakh and J&K, while 120 are from the North East Region (NER). The camp represents a mirror image of "Mini India," with cadets coming from all around the nation.

The camp's cadets will take part in a variety of events, including cultural competitions, national integration awareness programs, and competitions for various institutional training, according to Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh.

On January 26, 2023, two NCC marching contingents will take part in the Republic Day Parade. The PM's Rally on the evening of January 28, 2023, will be the culmination of this complex and challenging series of events.

According to the DG NCC, the Republic Day Camp aims to develop the cadets' character traits and fortify their core value system while also exposing them to the rich culture and traditions of our country through the significant events that take place in the National Capital in the months leading up to Republic Day and Beating the Retreat.

The RDC cadets were chosen in the previous year after going through numerous rounds of difficult screening at the group and directorate levels. Before entering the RDC-23, each cadet had to go through four to five screenings.
