This was the first such meeting and was held under the Slavkov format
For the first time, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a joint meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, Czech Republic Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský and Slovakian Foreign Minister Rastislav Káčer in the Slavkov format.

During their meeting on Monday, the four Foreign Ministers discussed India-EU relations, respective neighbourhoods and the Ukraine conflict.

EAM Jaishankar tweeted, "Very useful meeting in the Slavkov format with Foreign Ministers Alexander Schallenberg of Austria, Jan Lipavský of Czech Republic and Rastislav Káčer of Slovak Republic. Conversed about India-EU relations, our neighborhoods, Indo-Pacific and the Ukraine conflict".

"The openness of our discussions reflected the comfort of our relationship," he added.

The Slavkov or Austerlitz format, named after the place where it was created in 2015, is a cooperation format between Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Additionally, EAM Jaishankar had a separate bilateral meeting with Czech Republic Foreign Minister Lipavský. He called on Bulgarian President Rumen Radev who was also in Vienna at the same time.

Discussed further intensification of our bilateral partnership and expanding multilateral cooperation," he tweeted.

Earlier, EAM Jaishankar had a bilateral meeting with his Austrian counterpart Foreign Minister Schallenber. Their discussions covered a wide gamut of issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues.

Discussed deepening our bilateral relationship, especially in economy and business. Exchanged perspectives on Ukraine, West Asia, South Asia and the Indo-Pacific," EAM Jaishankar said on Twitter.

The two sides signed/initialed several agreements, including in the areas of Migration and Mobility which is the first such agreement reached by Austria with any country with whom they have a visa regime and only the second with a non-OECD country, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday.

A Working Holiday Programme agreement signed will allow Indians on holiday in Austria to find employment and work without a work permit for up to six months. Other agreements include the areas of of culture and visa free entry of diplomatic passport holders, the MEA said.

During the visit, EAM Jaishankar also met Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen, Speaker of Austrian Parliament Wolfgang Sobotka and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.

Additionally, EAM Jaishankar met the Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi. They discussed further enhancing IAEA’s collaboration with India in many areas including combating climate change, medical care and other nuclear applications for societal benefit.

EAM Jaishankar interacted with the Indian Community in Austria on New Year’s Day where a cultural programme representative of India’s rich diversity was also showcased. He also engaged with prominent Austrians in the field of foreign and strategic affairs as well as the Austrian media through television and print interviews.

This was his first visit to Austria as External Affairs Minister and also the first such visit from India in 27 years.
