EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is on an official visit to India

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday called on President of the European Union (EU) Commission Ursula von der Leyen and exchanged views on the economic and political implications of the Ukraine conflict.

In a Twitter post, EAM Jaishankar said, “Pleased to call on President of EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

He further said in the post that he “Discussed taking forward the #IndiaEU partnership. Also exchanged views on the economic and political implications of the Ukraine conflict.”

The EU Commission President is on an official visit to India on April 24-25.

This is her first visit to India as the President of the European Commission.
She has been invited as the Chief Guest for 7th edition of Raisina Dialogue and will address the inaugural session later on Monday.

On Monday, EAM Jaishankar also met with Foreign Minister of Slovenia, Anze Logar.

“Began the day by meeting FM Anze Logar of Slovenia. Appreciated his perspectives about Ukraine and the European Union,” he said in the tweet.

The Slovenian Minister would participate in the 7th edition of the Raisina Dialogue being held from April 25-27.

The 7th Edition of the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics will be held in an in-person format over three days. It is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

The theme for the 2022 Edition is ‘Terra Nova: Impassioned, Impatient, and Imperilled’.

Foreign Ministers of Argentina, Armenia, Australia (online), Guyana, Nigeria, Norway, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland and Portugal will also participate in the conference.
