The initiative will complement the efforts of the J&K government which has already created state-of-the-art sporting facilities across the Union Territory

The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with cricketer Suresh Raina intending to train budding cricketers across the Union Territory.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary BVR Subramaniam, and Principal Secretary to LG Nitishwar Kumar.

“In yet another step to tap the immense sports potential & to realise vision of LG @manojsinha_ of making J&K a Centre of Sporting Excellence, J&K Sports council today entered into a MoU with @ImRaina Cricket Academy to develop budding cricketers to National & International level,” the official handle of Department of Information and Public Relations said in a tweet.


LG Manoj Sinha observed that the MoU will provide an opportunity to the budding cricketers to hone their skills and to showcase their talent in various levels of national and international competitions.

In a press conference held after the signing of the MoU, the J&K government representative said, “Suresh Raina will train and provide coaching to the sports enthusiasts of J&K. He will expose the youth of J&K to the nuances of the sport, and the finer techniques of the game so that we are also able to produce National and International level cricketers.”

The initiative will complement the efforts of the J&K government which has already created state-of-the-art sporting facilities across the UT and is continuously adding world-class amenities to build a superior talent pool.

“We will try to pitch in international figures from other sports as well apart from cricket,” the government representative added.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, Raina expressed his happiness after signing the MoU.

“Extremely delighted to sign the MoU with J&K Sports Council for training budding cricketers across the Union Territory. In presence of J&K Lt. Governor @manojsinha_, Chief Secretary BVR Subramaniam, and Principal Secretary to LG @nitishwarKumar. Great beginnings & things ahead,” he said.
