MyGov has developed into a trusted source of information for citizens

Jammu & Kashmir has become the first Union Territory (UT) to implement MyGov, a unique participatory governance initiative involving the common citizens.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday announced the idea to carry forward the idea of citizen participation and achieve the aim of good governance, according to the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT.

"This online platform will bring the J&K administration closer to the common man while providing them opportunity to share opinions, ideas and suggestions on a range of issues for socio-economic transformation of the UT," he said.

"Governance process is a two way street. Citizen’s suggestions are essential for people-centric policy-making and MyGov platform will ensure that views of all stakeholders are incorporated in planning & decision making," he added.

MyGov was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, with the endeavor to bring the Government closer to the common man by creating an interface for a healthy exchange of ideas and views towards the social and economic transformation of India.

Today, MyGov also has more than 2.29 crore registered users, MyGov Saathis, who actively engage with MyGov and share their thoughts and suggestions on various policy topics, as well as participate in pledges, quizzes, and competitions, according to the ministry.

Over the years, MyGov has been successful in promoting positive use of social media, while constantly identifying change-makers and unsung heroes from across the country who are silently contributing to society. The portal has come out as a trusted source of information for citizens in these challenging times, added the ministry.

MyGov has been launched in the past in 15 states - Haryana, Maharashtra, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.
