Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today reiterated that a string of measures have been taken to boost tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Advisor was speaking to a group of tourism sector stakeholders at the Civil Secretariat.

Listing the tourism promotion activities being carried out in different parts of the country and globally, he said that travel marts are being held which will help in increasing tourist arrivals here.

“We have also roped in major tourism players in other parts of the country to facilitate the tourists craving to enjoy the captivating natural beauty of Jammu and Kashmir” he added.

Terming the tourism sector as mainstay of JK’s economy, Advisor Sharma said that our focus is on promotion of potential tourist spots on sustainable basis. He said that the promotional activities will be further intensified across the country so that tourism here gets the requisite boost.

While elaborating the importance of religious tourism, the Advisor said that J&K is replete with several historical shrines and places of religious importance and the need of the hour is to effectively promote these nationally and globally.

He said that sustained campaign would contribute tremendously in boosting pilgrimage tourism which would in turn create jobs by accelerating the economic and trade related activities in these particular areas.
