Yo Yo Honey Singh Requests More Time from Maharashtra Cyber Authority
Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh seeks additional time to respond to allegations of objectionable remarks made during a concert.

Rapper and singer Hirdesh Singh, known by his stage name Yo Yo Honey Singh, has requested extra time to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber department. This request follows his absence during a scheduled questioning session on Monday. Honey Singh was summoned in connection with a complaint accusing him of making inappropriate remarks during a live concert.

The complaint led to Maharashtra Cyber issuing a summons for the artist to provide his statement regarding the allegations. Singh's non-attendance has raised concerns about the ongoing investigation into the matter. As of now, the case remains open, and further updates are awaited.

In a video shared on social media, the rapper had previously issued an apology for his comments, which he described as a “disclaimer” regarding unsafe sexual behaviour. This incident marks yet another chapter in Honey Singh's history of controversies.

In May, he faced legal scrutiny when the Delhi High Court instructed him to file a formal affidavit following complaints from the Hindu Shakti Dal. The concerns revolved around claims that Singh performed an objectionable song at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in 2025. During a hearing on April 2, the court ordered that the URLs for the song 'Volume 1' be removed from various social media platforms.

The court's statement condemned the song as “obscene,” “vulgar,” and “derogatory towards women,” asserting that such content cannot be defended under the pretext of artistic freedom or freedom of speech. The track, initially released in 2006 in collaboration with rapper Badshah, has attracted criticism for its alleged degrading portrayal of women.

During the April hearing, Judge Rupali Panwar pointed out that the song could negatively influence young audiences, as it remains accessible to children on the Internet. The judge emphasised the necessity to safeguard minors from harmful content, urging for its immediate removal from platforms such as YouTube.

Although Singh denied performing the song during the March 1 concert at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, the ongoing inquiries will determine how the situation develops in light of his recent request for additional time to cooperate with investigators.
