Yash's latest venture, 'Toxic', has stirred mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike, as it crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in India shortly after its release. The film accumulated Rs 214.10 crore net in five days, bolstered by an impressive Rs 23 crore on its opening Sunday, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Yash under KVN Productions, 'Toxic' is described as a psychological gangster drama set against the backdrop of Portuguese-era Goa. However, critics have noted significant shortcomings, particularly in its editing and character development.

With the core storyline attempting to weave intricate themes, reviewers have expressed that much of its potential was lost during the editing process. Describing the film's pacing as rushed, one critic remarked, "The edit feels like a two-hour story squeezed down into 15–30 minutes, limiting the audience's engagement with the characters and their journeys."

Despite its ambitious intentions, those watching the film found themselves grappling with a plethora of characters and storylines that were insufficiently fleshed out, leading to confusion. For instance, relationships that could have been pivotal in the narrative were hurriedly introduced, leaving audiences without a clear understanding of their significance. Critics likened the execution to a train travelling too fast—while all the major plot points were present, they lacked the necessary context for emotional resonance.

The film's commercial performance has been notable. With a total worldwide gross of Rs 285.20 crore within the same timeframe, 'Toxic' has joined the ranks of previous hits featuring Yash. Comparisons are being drawn to 'KGF', which also enjoyed a significant initial box-office surge before achieving sustained success. However, the subsequent daily collections for 'Toxic' have begun to taper off, with a notable 67.6% drop in collections by day six, signalling a potential challenge for its continued commercial viability moving forward.

In addition to Yash, the film features a strong ensemble cast that includes Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. Although the film was presented in multiple languages, audience reception has varied, reflecting the complexities of its narrative.
