Vivo Unveils Release Timeline for OriginOS 7 Update
Vivo has announced the timeline for the release of its OriginOS 7 update, based on Android 17, set to debut on several of its smartphones. At a launch event held on October 10, 2026, the tech company unveiled new models including the Vivo V80 5G, Vivo S2 FE 5G, and the innovative Vivo X Fold 6 5G foldable smartphone. Alongside these launches, Vivo provided a comprehensive list of devices that will be updated to the latest software platform.
The OriginOS 7 update introduces several enhancements and user interface modifications. Key features include Fluid Motion and Spring animations, which enhance the visual experience during transitions. The new operating system also supports the Origin Workbench, promoting multitasking capabilities. This feature enables users to seamlessly switch between different applications and supports cross-app functionality, including drag-and-drop features.
Another notable addition is the Snap-Up engine, designed to optimise resource use during critical tasks, such as processing payments and ensuring timely transactions. Moreover, OriginOS 7 integrates several AI tools that can summarise information, manage scheduled tasks, and facilitate device interactions.
The updated Jovi feature assists users by managing tasks when their Vivo device is connected to a personal computer, including gathering news and generating reports. Users will also benefit from new Always-On Display (AOD) themes, including the Pet Pals Theme and Glint Theme.
The rollout for OriginOS 7 will commence in late October 2026, beginning with select Vivo models in the X series. The first devices slated to receive the update include the Vivo X Fold 5, X300, X300 Pro, X300 Ultra, and X300 FE. This comprehensive rollout plan marks a significant step for Vivo as it seeks to enhance user experience across its smartphone range.
