Vice President Radhakrishnan Advocates for Inclusive Economic Growth
New Delhi, 3 October - Vice President C P Radhakrishnan has stated that inclusive growth is essential for sustainable development. Speaking at the 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave, he highlighted the importance of making decisions rooted in consensus.
Radhakrishnan remarked on India's economic transition, stating that the country is progressing from an under-developed state towards becoming a developed economy. He stressed the necessity for developmental benefits to reach all segments of society.
In an era characterised by geopolitical tensions and changing global trade dynamics, he articulated the need for 'decisiveness embedded in consensus'. He argued that effective governance must include debate and discussion leading to widely accepted conclusions.
As Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Radhakrishnan emphasised that democratic processes rely on transparent discussions, not just within India but globally. He urged policymakers to consider both micro and macroeconomic realities when shaping policies.
He noted that successful economies, such as China, understand these ground realities, which have enabled them to rise as the world's second-largest economy. Radhakrishnan advised policymakers to remain flexible and informed, underscoring that adaptability is key to effective governance and successful policy implementation.
This message aligns with a broader push for inclusive decision-making in governance structures worldwide and the recognition that all stakeholders must be considered in policy formation.
