Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Makes IPL History as Uncapped Player
At just 15, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes the first uncapped player to score two centuries in IPL history during a match for Rajasthan Royals.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a remarkable 15-year-old cricketer, has made a significant mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the first uncapped player to score two centuries in the tournament's history. His latest achievement came in a high-pressure match for Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 25, 2026.

Sooryavanshi's phenomenal innings saw him reach a century in just 36 balls, showcasing an impressive strike rate of 278.38. His performance helped Rajasthan Royals set a competitive score, with 12 sixes and 5 fours, before he was eventually dismissed for 103 runs off 37 balls. This innings follows his earlier century from the 2025 IPL season, where he recorded his first hundred against Gujarat Titans.

The young talent's historic feat has placed him alongside cricketing greats, surpassing other uncapped players who have previously scored single centuries in the league, including Paul Valthaty, Manish Pandey, and Rajat Patidar.

Born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur, Samastipur district of Bihar, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been breaking records since he was a pre-teen. He debuted in the prestigious Ranji Trophy at the age of 12 and became the youngest player to secure an IPL contract, being signed by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore at just 13 years old.

He made his IPL debut at 14 years and 23 days, becoming the youngest player to do so in the league's history. During his third match, he recorded a remarkable innings of 101 runs off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, achieving the second-fastest century in IPL history, behind Chris Gayle's record of 30 balls, and the fastest by an Indian.

In the 2025 IPL season, Sooryavanshi finished with a tally of 252 runs in seven matches, recording a strike rate exceeding 206, further cementing his reputation as a future cricketing star.

The current 2026 season has seen him maintain his form, achieving rapid half-centuries alongside his recent century, demonstrating his adroitness and talent.

Experts and fans are already describing Sooryavanshi as a "once-in-a-generation talent,” recognising his blend of sheer power, refined timing, and strong composure on the field. His journey and impact extend beyond personal accolades, as he has also played a crucial role in guiding the India Under-19 team to success.

As Sooryavanshi continues to rewrite the history books, he embodies the bright future of Indian cricket and the overwhelming potential that can be harnessed from the younger generation of players in the IPL.
