Trump Predicts Resolution of Iran Conflict Post-Election Day
Donald Trump claims the war with Iran will conclude shortly after the upcoming elections, highlighting the conflict in a recent address.

Dallas – Former President Donald Trump centred his speech on the ongoing conflict with Iran during the Republican midterm convention held at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday. He posed a direct question to the audience, asking, "Does anybody here think that Iran should have a nuclear weapon?" to which the crowd emphatically responded, "No!".

In a statement that resonated with his supporters, Trump claimed, "The war will be over very shortly after the election." He suggested that Iranian officials are awaiting the outcome of the elections, hoping for a victory by the Democratic Party, which he characterized as "dumb and weak," potentially allowing Iran to pursue its nuclear ambitions.

Despite Trump's optimism, the conflict has extended beyond his earlier predictions, lasting over seven months now. A recent poll conducted by NBC News found that 69% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s management of the war. Among Republican respondents, support has dropped significantly, with only 30% expressing strong approval compared to earlier in the year.

Some attendees at the convention expressed their faith in Trump's approach to the war. Jack Etheridge, an alternate delegate from Ohio, remarked, "Any good thing in life is worth waiting for... I think the reality is no one believes that Iran is going to defeat the United States."

Concerns regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities echoed among supporters. David Lovlien, a county commissioner from New Hampshire, stated, "They are not just a bad dictatorship... they would drop a nuclear bomb on Europe." He maintained that the actions taken by the United States are justifiable.

Amid rising oil prices linked to the conflict, Vince Galko, a former Pennsylvania GOP official, acknowledged the impact of the war on fuel costs but suggested that safety considerations outweigh economic concerns. He said, "Consumers can afford to look at $4 gas for a few weeks rather than looking at a mushroom cloud over their kids’ school."

Senator Rick Scott from Florida stated it is up to Trump to articulate the rationale behind the war to the American public. He emphasised the necessity of the United States' actions to prevent Iran from potential aggression.

Trump also forecasted a decrease in fuel prices once hostilities cease, indicating that discussions he frequently has about rising prices ultimately lead back to the need for US action against Iran. He reiterated his stance that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons, asserting, "Well, then I’m right — then I win!"
