Three Arrests Made Following Islamabad Mosque Suicide Attack
Two men and a woman arrested in Peshawar linked to recent suicide bombing in Islamabad that killed 31 and injured 169.

Police in Pakistan have arrested three individuals in Peshawar in connection with a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Islamabad that occurred on February 6, 2026. The attack, which took place at the Khadijah al-Kubra mosque-cum-imambargah, resulted in the deaths of at least 31 people and left 169 others injured.

The arrested individuals include two brothers of the suspected suicide bomber, along with a woman, all of whom are being interrogated by local authorities. According to a police official, an identity card found during the arrests aided investigators in identifying the bomber as Yasir, whose permanent residence was in Abbas Colony, Shiro Jangi, located on Charsadda Road in Peshawar.

Prior to the devastating attack, Yasir is reported to have spent around five months in Afghanistan, where he allegedly underwent training related to weapons handling and execution of suicide attacks. This information has shifted the focus of investigators towards dismantling the network believed to be behind the incident.

Following the bomb blast, police have intensified operations in Peshawar and the neighbouring town of Nowshera to uncover potential accomplices and facilitators involved in the attack. Authorities have stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Islamadad bombing is comprehensive and ongoing, with further evidence expected to emerge that may illuminate the extent of the terrorist act. As the community mourns the tragedy, efforts to ensure security around places of worship are anticipated to be reinforced in light of this incident.
