Tourism in Jammu and Kashmir Remains Strong, Says Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has recently commented on the enduring allure of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) as a tourist destination for visitors from across India. Speaking at a public event, Shah noted that the enthusiasm for travel to the region has not waned, reflecting the ongoing recovery of tourism in J&K following historic disruptions.
The Minister pointed to various factors contributing to this sustained interest, including improved security and infrastructure. "The improvements we have made ensure that tourists can enjoy the natural beauty and culture of this unique region without concerns for their safety," Shah stated.
Jammu and Kashmir, known for its picturesque landscapes, has long been a favoured destination for both domestic and international travellers. The region boasts attractions like the picturesque Dal Lake, the mountains of Pahalgam, and historical landmarks in Jammu. In recent years, the government has implemented measures aimed at revitalising tourism, including the development of new facilities and attractions.
According to data from the J&K tourism department, there has been a significant uptick in tourist numbers over the past year. Officials have reported that recent figures show a remarkable increase in visitors, with the region hosting millions during the peak season. This resurgence is seen as a positive sign for local economies that heavily depend on tourism as a primary source of livelihood.
The current government administration has prioritised tourism by investing in necessary infrastructure and ensuring better service delivery for tourists. Officials see this as part of a broader strategy to normalise the situation in J&K and encourage economic stability in the region. Shah's remarks underscore the government's commitment to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for visitors.
The above developments highlight a renewed confidence among tourists, leading to an optimistic outlook for the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir as it continues to recover and grow.
