Tere Ishk Mein Achieves Strong Opening Day Box Office Performance
Tere Ishk Mein, the latest romantic drama starring Indian actors Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has made a significant impact at the box office on its first day of release. The film, directed by Aanand L. Rai, generated considerable excitement prior to its launch, with its trailer receiving a positive response from fans.
As reported by Sacnilk, Tere Ishk Mein earned ₹16.50 crore on its opening day, marking it as the second-highest opening for a romantic film in 2025, trailing only behind Saiyaara, which opened at ₹21.5 crore. This impressive figure has positioned Tere Ishk Mein ahead of other major Bollywood releases, including Jolly LLB 3, which earned ₹12 crore, and Sitaare Zameen Par, which brought in ₹10.70 crore.
This film signifies a notable return for Dhanush to the Hindi film industry, following a lengthy hiatus since his last Hindi project. Dhanush's debut in Hindi cinema came over a decade ago with Raanjhanaa, which opened with ₹5.60 crore. His subsequent project with Aanand L. Rai, Atrangi Re, was released directly on an online streaming platform in 2021.
Tere Ishk Mein tells the story of a young man, portrayed by Dhanush, who struggles with his temper and violent tendencies as he falls in love with Kriti Sanon's character, Mukti. Their romance unfolds during their college years, but complications arise as Mukti decides to marry another man. The film's music, composed by the renowned A.R. Rahman, adds to the overall appeal.
The film's production involved notable industry figures, including Aanand L. Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar, and was produced under the banners of Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Colour Yellow Productions.
As the film continues to screen in theatres, it is anticipated that positive word-of-mouth could further enhance its box office performance over the coming weekend. The romantic genre has recently seen a resurgence in popularity, as evidenced by earlier successes like Saiyaara and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, suggesting that Tere Ishk Mein may maintain its momentum in the days to come.
