Tata Tiago EV Smart vs Pure Plus: A Comprehensive Comparison
Explore the features, powertrains, and pricing differences between the Tata Tiago EV Smart and Pure Plus variants in this detailed comparison.

Tata Motors has introduced an updated version of its Tiago Electric Vehicle (EV), featuring a refreshed design, an enhanced interior, and new functionalities. Launched in three trims—Smart, Pure Plus, and Creative Plus—this report focuses on contrasting the Smart and Pure Plus variants to assess which model provides superior value.

Exterior Features Both the Smart and Pure Plus versions feature identical front facades, including halogen headlights. The vehicles sport a dynamic bumper that incorporates a sizeable air dam and a blanked-off grille complemented by vertical air flow vents on either side. From a lateral perspective, both variants exhibit a familiar silhouette accentuated by silver door handles and wheel arch cladding. The Smart variant uses matte black exterior mirrors and a B-pillar, while the Pure Plus opts for a glossy black finish, integrated LED indicators, and a sharkfin antenna.

In terms of wheels, all variants of the Tiago EV come equipped with steel rims. The base Smart variant is fitted with 13-inch steel wheels whereas the Pure Plus and Creative Plus variants feature aerodynamically designed 14-inch steel wheels with covers. At the rear, the appearance of both variants remains similar, featuring a connected taillamp look created by a red element across the tailgate. While the Smart trim includes rear parking sensors, the Pure Plus variant is enhanced with a reverse camera and a rear windshield defogger.

The Smart variant offers four colour options: Daytona Grey, Pure Grey, Pristine White, and Pangong Pulse, whereas the Pure Plus includes an additional colour option, Sobo Surge.

Interior Features Inside, both variants are designed with a grey and black colour scheme highlighted by pastel green accents. The new dashboard features a layered appearance, conferring an air of sophistication, and includes a two-spoke steering wheel. Notably, the Pure Plus variant installs an infotainment screen, enhancing the cabin's lively atmosphere, while the Smart variant retains a blank slot.

Standard features across both trims include automatic climate control, various driving modes, connected car technology, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and central locking. However, the Pure Plus trim is further augmented with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a four-speaker sound system, wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 65W USB Type-C charging ports, steering-mounted controls, and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors.

Safety Features The 2026 Tiago EV is equipped with standard safety provisions like six airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), high beam alert, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The Pure Plus variant adds desirable safety enhancements such as a reverse camera, a manual day/night interior rear-view mirror, and a rear defogger.

Powertrain Specifications Focusing on the powertrains, the Tiago EV Smart is available exclusively with a 19.2 kWh battery option, while the Pure Plus variant offers the alternative of a larger 24 kWh battery. Below are the specifications for both variants:

  • Smart Variant: 19.2 kWh Battery

    • Maximum Range (MIDC Part 1 + Part 2): 226 km
    • Power Output: 61 PS
    • Torque: 110 Nm
  • Pure Plus Variant: 24 kWh Battery

    • Maximum Range (MIDC Part 1 + Part 2): 285 km
    • Power Output: 75 PS
    • Torque: 114 Nm

Additionally, the Tiago EV supports 30 kW DC fast charging, enabling the battery to recharge from 20 to 80 percent in merely 35 minutes. It is worth noting that the Smart variant is solely available with the 19.2 kWh battery pack, while the premium Creative Plus exclusively features the 24 kWh unit. Therefore, the mid-tier Pure Plus variant uniquely presents the choice between both powertrain configurations.

Pricing Overview Regarding pricing, the Tata Tiago EV Smart variant starts at Rs 6.99 lakh, while the Pure Plus variant is priced between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 9.49 lakh, according to ex-showroom rates across India. Although the Tiago EV does not face any direct competition, it stands as a compelling alternative to vehicles such as the MG Comet EV, the Citroen eC3, and Tata's own Punch EV.
